Tioga County experienced serious flooding in June of 2006. Tioga Opportunities, Inc. coordinated with the County's Emergency Management Office to mobilize and create a distribution center at the Countryside Community Center for disaster victims. Flood victims were provided with non-perishable food, clothing, bedding, paper products, personal care items, bug repellant, cleaning kits, and supplies. Approximately 1,500 residents were served. Additional recovery efforts were aided by the United Way of Tioga County, and a generous grant from the New York State Department of Community Services. |
