Pre-K is for...
What is Pre-K? Pre-K is a fun place to come learn and play! During the day at Pre-K the children learn their: alphabet, numbers, shapes, colors, self-help skills, and socialization. The children also experiment with different medium during Art and Science. During Art the children are encouraged to visit the painting easel. At the easel they develop large and small muscle skills. They are also given a chance to use their imaginations and be creative. At the Science table the children are given the opportunity to experiment with magnets, color mixing, floating, sinking, and chemical reactions, such as observing the eruption of a child-made volcano. We have the opportunity to use the playground for physical activity. This is a good way to develop those larger muscles. Please note - because of the popularity of these programs families are selected for enrollment by using a lottery system. Pre-K at Owego-Apalachin There is one class, with two sessions at the Apalachin Elementary School.
There are two classes, with four sessions offered daily at the Owego Elementary School.
Children that are four (4) years old may ride the school bus in the morning and home from school in the afternoon. Parents are expected to transport children home at 11:30 or to school at 12:45. Pre-K at Newark Valley Newark Valley has two sessions daily.
Transportation is provided through the Newark Valley School District. The children will be transported to the morning program and will be transported home from the afternoon program. The parents will pick them up from the morning program at 11:30 and will drop them off for the afternoon program at 1:00.
