Is WIC For You?

WIC serves women, infants and children who meet income eligibility guidelines.

Women:

  • Pregnant, or
  • Breastfeeding, or
  • Postpartum (non-breastfeeding woman until six months after pregnancy ends)

Infants:

  • 0 to 1 year old
Children:
  • 1 year old until 5th birthday

Tioga Opportunities, Inc's WIC Program Offers

  • Monthly food checks so that you can buy healthy foods for you and your children
  • Nutrition education and counseling with a WIC nutritionist
  • Convenient locations
  • Referrals to other health and social services

Mother's Milk for a Healthier Baby

  • Research shows that breast fed babies are healthier - having fewer colds and ear infections.
  • The nutrients in breast milk help build the body's brain and immune system.
  • Breastfeeding allows you to form a close bond with your baby.

WIC Checks will Provide

  • milk
  • cheese
  • eggs
  • cereal
  • juice
  • peanut butter, or dried beans
  • infant formula if necessary
