This facility contains thirteen one-bedroom apartments designed for senior citizens (62 and over) and the disabled, but are available to others. Rental assistance may be available.

Located in the heart of the village of Nichols, this nostalgic building was opened in 1912 as the Nichols high school. It served as a school building until 1957. After it was closed it served as a warehouse for the storage of dry goods.

When Tioga Opportunities, Inc. purchased the Nichols Schoolhouse, our Housing Services crew was delighted with the condition of the existing light fixtures, ceilings and woodwork. The crew reused the light fixtures, reinstalled the pressed tin ceilings, and restored the original woodwork, making these apartments truly a one-of-a-kind design for rental properties.

Picturesque views surround this beautiful building which has easy access to Rte 17 and is just a few minutes from Tioga Downs, Guthrie Clinic, and downtown Owego.

Features:

The building features include an elevator, laundry facilities, a lobby area, private parking and a gazebo. Access to the building is limited to keyed entry or by way of an intercom system, linking each apartment to the main entrance.
